Stanford Achievement Test Series, 10th Edition

TVA Comparison, Spring 2010

In April 2010, The Vail Academy students took the Stanford Achievement Test, Tenth Edition (Stanford 10).  This test is one of the leading standardized achievement tests utilized by school districts in the United States for assessing children from kindergarten through high school; it is used to measure academic knowledge of elementary and secondary school students. The tests includes three types of questions: multiple choice, short answer and extended response which requires 5 or 6 sentence answers, graphs, illustration or show of work covering various subjects such as mathematical problem solving, reading and science.  Test scores measure the performance of a typical student at The Vail Academy, compared to students across the nation.

Based on the report comparing actual grade level of a student verses the tested grade level of a student, The Vail Academy Students scored an average of 1 to 2 grade levels higher in Science, Reading & Math and they scored 3 to7 grade levels higher in areas such as Word Study Skills and Language.
